YOU can help!
Edgebrook Covenant Church actively supports a variety of local missions including Crafty Angels, Cornerstone Community Outreach, Leland House, The North Park Friendship Center, Good News Community Kitchen, and The Community Garden Project.
Crafty Angels is a knitting ministry that provides hand knitted gloves, scarves, mittens, afghans, prayer shawls, and hand made blankets for the need locally, nationally and around the world. YOU CAN HELP by donating yarn, money, or joining our Crafty Angel knitters and crocheters. Contact Rev. Chris Pokorny (773.594.0541) to learn more and become involved. Also, see the Crafty Angels blog at crafty-angels.blogspot.com.
Cornerstone Community Outreach & Leland House provide shelter and programs for the homeless on Chicago’s north side. Both of these shelters are part of the ministry of Jesus People USA Covenant Church. Our work with these is spearheaded by our Women Ministries. Contact our Women Ministries chair, Barbara Agnello (847.394.3379) for more information. YOU CAN HELP these ministries by donating household items, clothing, and toiletries. Leave your donations in one of the bins in the Narthex.
The North Park Friendship Center provides food and other basic necessities for the needy of Chicago’s Albany Park community. The Friendship Center is a cooperative effort of several Chicagoland Evangelical Covenant churches. Contact Friendship Board member and Edgebrook Covenanter Jon Lind (773.286.4908) for more information. YOU CAN HELP this work by taking part in our “1 Thing Campaign”: bring a donation of a single food item each week and put it in the bin marked “Food Pantry” in the Narthex.
Good News Community Kitchen serves a hot and nutritious supper 365 days a year to the needy from their location in the east Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. Every other month, on the first Saturday of the month, volunteers from Edgebrook Covenant serve the meal and clean up afterwards. We also purchase the food for that evening’s supper. YOU CAN HELP by donating money for the meal and / or helping serve it. Contact Tony Senatore (847.673.3329) if you are interested in volunteering.
The Community Garden Project is a ministry of Resurrection Covenant Church in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago. Produce we grow here in garden plots behind our annex (the two flat immediately south of our church) are donated and used in a weekly community meal for the needy of that community. YOU CAN HELP by working in the garden during our growing season. Contact Anita Hohenstein (773.763.6888) if you would like to help!
